Grace As I Sit Here

Last night the toothless old oppressor of souls, a.k.a, the “Tempter”, the “Liar”, tried to speak his lies into my tired mind. He wasn’t even sneaky like he usually is. He did a full on gut sucker punch. He had me to the mat counting down…one…two…three. I struggled to my feet and faced off. I picked up my gloves. Wham! I counted down as he lay there struggling. One…two…three, and finally TEN.

I knew his moves, I had watched the best. He tried to beat the Son of God and he couldn’t.

I laughed. “You tried your best lie on him,” I said. “It was an audacious move you threw at this very hungry man.” “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread,” You hissed.

Jesus, the very hungry man, had the best knockout punch ever recorded and he didn’t even use a glove. He used words that came directly from the Eternal One who wrote the instructions on life. “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes out of the mouth of God.”

Oh, but I know these words the best. “My grace is sufficient for you, my strength is made perfect in weakness.” These words were my knockout punch.

And guess what? I belong to The One who spoke these words. I’m His daughter.

“What was that you said?” “Is that the best lie you can throw at me – I’m guilty?” “Okay, here goes, get ready because you’re going down.”

The three most powerful words ever spoken after he had been charged guilty, and before he gave up His spirit, the perfect,  innocent lamb of God, Jesus, said, “IT IS FINISHED.”

I’m feeling sleepy. “Good night.”

As I sit here in the morning hours. Grace is my blanket.

Pssst…don’t forget, if you belong to Jesus – the Tempter has no power over you. If you don’t know Him, he invites you to follow. He is saying, “come” whoever is willing. He is saying, follow my teaching and my ways and give up your self-interests daily.

I’m in.
